You
kept going back to them
Looking
for what you needed
You
kept going back to them
Hoping
they would finally show you love
Longing
drove you to look to them
While
experience repeatedly beat you away
Even
when all faith was gone
And
trust had been shattered beyond repair
You
kept going back to them
Dreaming
that someday what you needed
Would
be there
“Maybe
this hope was foolish”- you said
“But
it is all that I have
Maybe
the day will never come,
But
I have to hope its there”
Over
and over I watched you fly to them
Like
a moth into the fire
Longing
for some soothing warmth
And
finding only your soul’s pyre
Each
time you came away from them
A little
bit less whole
Seeking
some sort of solace
And
finding nothing but an empty hole
Years
and decades go by
As
you battle towards them in vain
Until
something clicked in your mind
Or
snapped in your soul
And
you realized that they would never
Help
you to be whole
In
pain overwhelming,
And
a loss of faith so complete-
You
took to planning
What
you hoped would be their defeat
“I’ll
take my life” you said
“And
then they can’t hurt me anymore”
and
before I go I will tell the world what you did”
What
you didn’t think about
Was
who you would really hurt-
For
if they didn’t care when you were alive
Would
they care when you were beneath the dirt?
You
left me alone-
I
know it is what you needed to do
But
now I am left with a world of hurt
And
no clue what to do
